Steak fry

NOV. 9 — The Osseo-Maple Grove S.A.L and American Legion Auxiliary will be co-hosting a Steak Fry at the Osseo American Legion, 260 Fourth Ave. S.E. in Osseo, Friday, Nov. 9. The usual ‘steak fry’ menu includes steak, walleye, and/or shrimp served with a baked potato and coleslaw. The meals will be served between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Bring family, neighbors and friends. Also, this would be a good time for all those hunting widows to get together and have a meal with good company.

Holiday craft boutique

NOV. 10 — The Maple Grove Holiday Craft Boutique will be Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove. Maple Grove Lions, Dandelions and Maple Grove Seniors are sponsoring the event. All profits from the table rentals will go toward community projects.

MG Critical Thinkers

NOV. 10 — The Maple Grove Critical Thinking Discussion Group will present  “What Holds the Fabric of the Universe Together?” with Professor Roger Rusak, U-MN, Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Champps Americana, 13521 80th Circle N. in Maple Grove. Artistry in Wood Show

NOV. 10 & 11 — Minnesota Viking Woodcarving Club, a non-profit organization, will be hosting its annual Artistry in Wood Show Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southtown Shopping Center, I-494 & Penn Avenue S. in Bloomington. The show will also featuring Minnesota’s own nonagenarian, world famous chip carver Walt Grittner, as well as many other artists in wood from all over the upper Midwest. Shown will be many disciplines in wood carving including chip carving, relief carving, carving in the round, intarsia, marguetry, parquetry, wood turnings, bark carving, wood burning and other interesting crafts in wood.

Osseo Book Club

NOV. 13 — The Osseo Book Club will meet Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Edinburgh Golf Clubhouse, 8700 Edinbrook Crossing in Brooklyn Park. Lori Sturdevant, Star Tribune reporter and author of “The Pillsbury’s of Minnesota,” will be the featured speaker. The luncheon time is at noon with the speaker to follow.

NOV. 15, DEC. 6 & 20 — The Maple Grove Farmers Market has moved indoors of the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road. The Indoors Market will be open on Thursdays, Nov. 15 and Dec. 6 and 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. each day. Items available for purchase may include: seasonal produce, meat products, baked goods, jams/jellies, cheese, sauces/syrups, honey and more. Omelet breakfast

NOV. 18 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Riders will be serving an Omelet Breakfast Sunday, Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion, 260 Fourth Ave. S.E. in Osseo. People can come and have an omelet of their own creation with the Legion’s ingredients and have it prepared in front of them by the cooks. The cost is $8 per person. The funds will go to support different veterans functions as well as other organizations that need help.
