Open House – Coon Rapids Dam Rehabilitation Project
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) plans to rehabilitate the Coon Rapids Dam to make it a more effective barrier to the migration of invasive fish species and to extend the life of the dam. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2013 and to be completed late fall of 2014. The DNR, in conjunction with Three Rivers Park District and Anoka County Parks, will be holding an Open House on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Greenhaven Golf Course (2800 Greenhaven Road, Anoka) where more information will be available regarding the planning, design and proposed construction of this project. In addition, this Open House will include information on efforts led by Anoka Conservation District and Hennepin Conservation District to develop an assessment of shoreline stabilization issues along the pool above the dam, and to develop strategies for public outreach and possible funding for future improvements to the riverbank.
