Steak fry

OCT. 26 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a Steak Fry at the Osseo American Legion, 260 Fourth Ave. S.E. in Osseo, Friday, Oct. 26. The usual ‘steak fry’ menu includes steak, walleye, and/or shrimp served with a baked potato and coleslaw or salad. The meals will be served between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, so bring the family, neighbors and friends.

Halloween/Costume Party

OCT. 26 — Parents, are you looking for a fun and safe place to bring your kids this Halloween? Bring them to EPIC Freestyle Karate Centers in Maple Grove for hours of Costume Karate Fun Friday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. Kids can participate in a fun Karate class, cool karate themed games then Epic provide pizza, drinks and snacks. At the end of the night every child will receive a free goody bag on their way out. Cost is $5 for pre-registration or $15 at the door. Limited space available. Osseo Kiddie Halloween event

OCT. 27 — The annual Osseo Halloween Kiddie event will be Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at noon. Kids in costumes should meet at noon at Osseo City Hall, 415 Central Ave. When the noon siren rings, kids will start trick or treating along Central Avenue at participating businesses handing out treats outside until 1 p.m. Kids will then head back to the Osseo Community Center in City Hall for treats and games. This event is sponsored by the Osseo Lions Club.

‘Murder on Main Street’ series

OCT. 27 — The Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street N., will host a mystery writer’s series. The final program is “Murder on Main Street Author Talk: Ellen Hart” Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. Award-winning Hart will talk about her most recent book, “Rest for the Wicked.” She will offer a glimpse into the “writer’s life” and her thoughts on the modern mystery novel. Q&A will follow. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Maple Grove Library. The program is free and open to adults.

French toast breakfast

OCT. 28 — A French Toast Breakfast for WomenSource will be Sunday, Oct. 28, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the St. Vincent de Paul School cafeteria or gym. A freewill offering will be accepted. The net proceeds will be donated to WomenSource, a non-profit pregnancy center providing free pregnancy tests and counseling, diapers, formula, clothing and an “Earn While You Learn” client incentive program. OCT. 29 — The Maple Grove Planning Commission meeting of Monday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. has been canceled due to no items on the agenda.

Osseo School Board

OCT. 30 — The Osseo School Board will have a work session on standard-based grading Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Education Service Center, 11200 93rd Ave. in Maple Grove. This meeting is open to the public.

MG Indoor Farmers Market

NOV. 1, 15, DEC. 6 & 20 — The Maple Grove Farmers Market has moved indoors of the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road. The Indoors Market will be open on Thursdays, Nov. 1 and 15 and Dec. 6 and 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. each day. Items available for purchase may include: seasonal produce, meat products, baked goods, jams/jellies, cheese, sauces/syrups, honey and more. Treasures/Treats sale

NOV. 2 & 3 — Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake’s annual Treasures and Treats Sale will be Friday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For sale will be home-baked goodies, gently used household items, hand-made blankets and crafts, beautiful gift shop items and more. This event is sponsored by Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake’s tenants. Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake is located at 5200 Oak Grove Parkway in Brooklyn Park, just off of Hwy. 610, between Zane and Noble.

Rinehart benefit

NOV. 4 — A benefit has been planned to help the Rinehart family with expenses during this difficult time. Please join in for a day of giving and to show support for Jeff as he battles Stage IV Melanoma. A pancake breakfast, silent auction, raffle and bake sale has been set-up to raise funds Sunday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maple Tavern, 9375 Deerwood Lane in Maple Grove. NOV. 5 — The Osseo School Board will have a negotiation strategies meeting Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. in the conference room of the Education Service Center, 11200 93rd Ave. in Maple Grove. This meeting is closed to the public. A regular meeting will follow at 8 p.m. in the board room of the ESC. This meeting is open to the public.

Health Fair

NOV. 5 — Snap Fitness Maple Grove, 9475 Garland Lane N., is hosting a Health Fair Monday, Nov. 5. This event is open to the public. NOV. 10 — The Maple Grove Holiday Craft Boutique will be Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove. Maple Grove Lions, Dandelions and Maple Grove Seniors are sponsoring the event. All profits from the table rentals will go toward community projects.

MG Critical Thinkers

NOV. 10 — The Maple Grove Critical Thinking Discussion Group will present  “The Discovery of the ‘Higgs (or “God”) Particle’” with Professor Roger Rusak, U-MN, Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Champps Americana, 13521 80th Circle N. in Maple Grove. Artistry in Wood Show

NOV. 10 & 11 — Minnesota Viking Woodcarving Club, a non-profit organization, will be hosting its annual Artistry in Wood Show Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southtown Shopping Center, I-494 & Penn Avenue S. in Bloomington. The show will also featuring Minnesota’s own nonagenarian, world famous chip carver Walt Grittner, as well as many other artists in wood from all over the upper Midwest. Shown will be many disciplines in wood carving including chip carving, relief carving, carving in the round, intarsia, marguetry, parquetry, wood turnings, bark carving, wood burning and other interesting crafts in wood.
