To the Editor:
Given the uncertain financial times that we are facing overall in this country, it is more imperative than ever that we elect qualified candidates to our local and state offices. We need candidates who are not afraid to question the “business as usual” mentality, are willing to stand up for the taxpayers, and are able to devote the time and energy necessary to deal with whatever problems we may face in the coming years.
Having known Jon Sutherland for a number of years, it is my belief that he has the above-mentioned qualities, which is why I am supportive of his candidacy to fill one of the vacant positions on the Delano City Council. Jon has approximately 25 years of experience in the government sector and is a long-time resident of Delano. He has Delano’s best interests at heart and is committed to working on behalf of the citizens of our community. He also has the fortitude needed to make the tough financial decisions that will help keep Delano on sound financial footing.
Over the next couple of weeks, I would encourage everyone to research the various positions each candidate holds and then let your voice be heard through the power of your vote on Nov. 6.
