Leander Heuring


Services for Leander A. Heuring, 94, of Albertville were Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.

Special music was provided by Wayne and Mary Lou Kolles and Rachel Kimmerle. Casket bearers were Troy Heuring, Brian Heuring, Alan Heuring, Jeff Heuring, Phil Heuring and Zack Heuring, Keith Bauch, Adam Bauch and Austin Bauch and Eric Vegoe.

Rev. Xavier Thelakkatt was the Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Albert’s Cemetery.

Mr. Heuring died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta.

He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Albertville the son of Alphonse and Veronica Dehmer Heuring.

He attended elementary school at St. Albert’s Catholic School in Albertville.

On June 9, 1941, Leander A. Heuring and Monica M. Becker were joined in holy marriage at The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. God blessed their marriage with three sons.

He engaged in dairy farming in Albertville for many years. Farming was his life!

Along with farming, he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, and he was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Albert in Albertville. He was a former member of the St. Mathias Society and a Church usher for many years.

Mr. Heuring was also a retired fireman of the Albertville Fire Department having served more than 20 years.

Survived by sons, Gerald (Joan) Heuring of Princeton and Richard (Diane) Heuring of Elk River; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Heuring of Litchfield; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and another on the way; a brother, Owen Heuring of Willmar; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eileen Heuring of Monticello, Zita Eull of St. Michael, Bertilla and Ken Schendel of Coon Rapids and Andrew and Leah Becker of Sauk Centre; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Monica Heuring in 2009, a son, Gordon Heuring in 2008, his parents, Alphonse and Veronica Heuring; sisters, Marie Kemmetmueller and Lucille Kolles; and brothers, Guido and Norman Heuring.
