‘Dracula’

Ghosts of Anoka

THROUGH OCT. 31 — Begins at 7 p.m. at the History Center in Anoka. The Ghosts of Anoka tour is a walking tour that includes skillful weaving together of history, conjecture and fact sprinkled with a flair for the dramatic. The tour route encompasses 15 blocks around Anoka city streets and lasts about 90 minutes. Tickets are available in advance at the History Center or by calling 763-421-0600. Tours are limited to 24 people. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for Anoka County Historical Society members and $5 for children.

Steak fry

OCT. 26 — There will be a steak fry at the Osseo American Legion, 260 4th Ave. S.E., Osseo, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Kiddie Halloween Parade

OCT. 27 — The annual Osseo Kiddie Halloween Parade will be Saturday, Oct. 27, at noon. Kids in costumes can walk along Central Avenue and get treats.

Halloween at Eidem Homestead

OCT. 27 — Community members can experience a Halloween in 1900 style at the Eidem Homestead in Brooklyn Park Oct. 27. The farmhouse will glow in soft kerosene lamplight where there will be fortune telling, a bonfire, decorations and treats. This family event is 7-9 p.m. at 4345 101st Ave. N., on the corner of Noble Parkway and 101st Avenue.

Halloween Party

OCT. 27 — There will be a Halloween Party, for ages 3-12, 1-3 p.m., at the Brooklyn Center Community Center, 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway.  The cost is $5 for games, treats, prizes, and a pass to swim and use the water slide.

Game booths include Pumpkin Patch, Bowling for Goblins, Spider Pops and more. Children are encouraged to wear their costume. Pre-registration by Friday, Oct. 26, is recommended. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Info: 763-569-3400.

Health and Wellness Fair

OCT. 27 — There will be a Health and Wellness Fair Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m.-noon at Odyssey Academy, 6201 Noble Ave. N. in Brooklyn Center.

A pancake breakfast will be served for $1 per person or 50 cents with the donation of a children’s coat. The event features blood pressure and hearing tests and more than 30 health and wellness exhibits. Info: odysseyacademy.org or 763-971-8200.

Puppet show

OCT. 30 — Enjoy a puppet show, from 10-11 a.m. at Kroening Interpretive Center in North Mississippi Regional Park, 5114 North Mississippi Drive in Minneapolis. A spider-themed puppet show for families with children ages 2-6 will be held followed by a “spider hunt” and short hike through the park. The cost is $4 per child. NOV. 1 — This adult learning session will be held Nov. 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Anoka-Hennepin Staff Development Center, 2727 N. Ferry St., Anoka. Treasures/Treats sale

NOV. 2 & 3 — Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake’s annual Treasures and Treats Sale will be Friday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For sale will be home-baked goodies, gently used household items, hand-made blankets and crafts, beautiful gift shop items and more. Saturday at the Movies

NOV. 3 — The Champlin Library will host Saturday at the Movies from 2 to 4 p.m. for preschool through grade 6. Bring the whole family to watch a great movie on the big screen. Rinehart benefit

NOV. 4 — A benefit has been planned to help the Rinehart family with expenses during this difficult time. JMS parent advisory meeting

NOV. 5 — A parent advisory meeting will be held at Jackson Middle School in the media center at 6:30 p.m. Info will include internet safety, cyberbullying and social media. General Election

NOV. 6 — The General Election is Nov. 6. Absentee voting begins Sept. 21. Check with your city hall for specific polling locations and for more information on how to absentee vote. Pre-registration for the General Election closes Oct. 16. You may register in person at the polls on Election Day.

Present Moment Parenting

NOV. 7 — This adult learning session will be held Nov. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Anoka-Hennepin Staff Development Center, 2727 N. Ferry St., Anoka. Ever wonder why typical parenting techniques don’t work with some kids? Come and learn specific, hands-on, here-and-now methods for kids ages 2-18 with ADHD, ODD, attachment disorders, sensory issues, giftedness, or no diagnosis at all. We’ll lay aside “judge, blame and punish,” which only makes the situation worse and look at communication’s effect on the child. Dramatically different approach, dramatically different results. ‘Pilgrims Progress’

NOV. 9 – 17 — En Morphe Theatre, of Champlin, presents “Pilgrims Progress” a full-length drama which follows Christian, a pilgrim on a journey from the City of Destruction to the Gates of the Celestial City. Champlin Park Youth Hockey Association

Free drop-in yoga classes at the Hindu Temple

Tribute Trees

ONGOING — The Friends of Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County work with the city of Champlin to offer Tribute Trees as living gifts that may be planted in city parks. The recipient receives a card at the time of the order, and a map of the tree location after its planting in spring. The cost is $75 per tree, or $200 for three.
