MapleBrook soccer teams working their way to Italy
The players of the MapleBrook U-14 and U-16 Boys C-1 soccer teams are expecting Summer 2013 to be like none they’ve experienced before. As part of a first-ever event for the Maplebrook Soccer Club, both teams are traveling to Italy for a 10-day trip.
The teams will participate in a four-day tournament in the city of Rimini located on Italy’s Adriatic Coast. In addition to the tournament, the teams will train with one or more Italian professional teams at their homes sites and also play exhibition games against local competition. Mixed into the competition and training are visits for families and players to tour the many cultural attractions of Rome, Florence and Milan.
The MapleBrook teams are made up of a majority of the players coming from the Maple Grove, Osseo and the Brooklyn Park area with many other greater metro communities being represented including Lino Lakes, St. Louis Park, Orono, Maple Plain, New Hope and St. Michael.
Over the next several months the teams will be doing a variety of fundraising. One of their current fall fundraising efforts is providing leaf raking services to local residents.
