Crimson girls run 5th at conference meet

The Maple Grove girls’ cross country team placed fifth at the Northwest Suburban Conference meet Oct. 11.

“The rookie has led the team most of the season and has brought new energy and a competitive spirit to the team,” Maple Grove coach Jen Riewe said.

Maple Grove’s top seven runners are: 12- Tia Johnson, seventh grade, 15:39.5; 24- Essyonna Peschong, seventh grade, 16:06.2; 25- Taylor Rosacker, eighth grade, 16:06.3; 30- Olivia Rosenow, 11th grade, 16:17.1; 33- Paige Cassibo, eighth grade, 16:21.4; 34- Lauren Scheidler, ninth grade, 16:22.1; 38- Kendall Johnson, 11th grade, 16:25.3.

“We were hoping to place higher in the varsity meet and will be looking to make some significant improvement at the sections meet,” Riewe said. “Our junior varsity (second) and junior high (first) runners both worked really hard to achieve their top spots in the results.”

The section meet is Oct. 25 at Anoka High School. Races begin at 3:30 p.m.
