Arrests

Corcoran Police reported a theft arrest Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3:57 p.m. at 76XX County Rd. 116. Arrested was Justin James Rath, 20, of Rockford for theft of miscellaneous items in the amount of $1,000 to $1,200.

Corcoran Police reported a DAS arrest Friday, Oct. 12 at 6:15 p.m. at 131XX Main St. in Rogers. Arrested was Juventino De Matias Arados, 40, of St. Paul for driving after suspension of his driver’s license. The Officer was working a traffic detail in Rogers.

Property damage

The department reported a property damage auto crash Monday, Oct. 8 at 5:25 p.m. in the area of County Rd. 30 and County Rd. 19. The driver of vehicle #1 was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of County Rd. 30 and County Rd. 19. The driver was going to make a right turn onto County Rd. 30 when the driver of vehicle #2 struck the back of vehicle #1. The driver of vehicle #2 thought that the driver of vehicle #1 was going to make the turn.

The department reported a property damage accident Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 2:08 p.m. in the area of County Rd. 116 and Country Rd. The driver of vehicle #1 was southbound on County Rd. 116 when they realized they had missed their turn. The driver pulled over partially to make a U-turn at the intersection of Country Rd. and County Rd. 116. The driver of vehicle #2 saw the driver of vehicle #1 pull over and began to pass them. Vehicle #1 proceeded to make the U-turn and vehicle #2 side-swiped vehicle #1. Vehicle #1 did not have their turn signal on and vehicle #2 was making a legal pass. No injuries were reported.

The department reported a property damage incident Thursday, Oct. 11 at 2:25 p.m. in the area of 64XX block of County Rd. 19. The reporting party advised that sometime in the last 10 days an unknown suspect(s) had pried on the door to their storage unit, causing damage to the door jam and the lock. Entry was not gained.

The department reported a property damage incident Thursday, Oct. 11 at 4:04 p.m. in the area of 98XX Chisholm Tr. The reporting party advised that sometime after they left their house this morning at 9:30 a.m., someone had damaged their garage door. The Officer advised it looked as if a delivery truck had struck the garage door. The case is under investigation.

The department reported a property damage auto crash Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:06 p.m. in the area of County Rd. 117 and Country Hills Dr. The driver of the vehicle was driving on County Rd. 117 near Country Hills Dr. when a deer ran out and they collided. Damage was done to the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported at that time.

The department reported a property damage auto crash Saturday, Oct. 13 at 12:52 p.m. in the area of Oakdale Dr. and Ebert Rd. The driver was westbound Oakdale Dr. and ran off the road on the right side, lost control, spun around, went across the road, struck a power pole guide wire and went through a fence. No injuries were reported.

Theft

Theft of tires was reported Monday, Oct. 8 at 3:00 p.m. in the 199XX block of 75th Ave. N. When the reporting party arrived for work, they noticed there were several tires missing from the storage area. The business’ video shows the suspects and their vehicle leaving the parking lot with a trailer full of tires.

Theft of mail was reported Friday, Oct. 12 at 10:15 a.m. in the 76XX block of Maple Hill Rd. The reporting party advised that they had placed some mail in their mailbox on the evening of August 23. The reporting party received a phone call from a State Trooper that had found a check in the reporting party’s name in a suspect’s vehicle. The State Trooper was confirming whether the suspect should be in possession of the check or not. The reporting party advised they did not give permission for the suspect to have the check in their possession. The reporting party advised their bank and closed their account.

Miscellaneous

The department responded to a report of a 911 hang-up on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6:17 a.m. in the 104XX block of Hage Dr. The Officer arrived at the residence and found that a person was sleeping and had rolled over on their cell phone. There were no issues.

The department responded to a report of suspicious activity on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 5:54 p.m. in the 78XX block of Maple Hill Rd. The reporting party advised that when the school bus dropped off children this afternoon, there was a van with three adults at the entrance to the park. The adults had a still camera, a video camera and a microphone and it appeared they were interviewing the children. The adults did not appear to be from an identifiable news outlet. The incident had happened earlier in the afternoon and the adults were gone before Officers could arrive on scene.

The department responded to a report of a possible burglary on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8:39 p.m. in the 78XX block of Maple Hill Rd. The reporting party stated that approximately 10 minutes ago two suspects tried to open their front door. When they turned their outside light on, the suspects ran away. No entry made into the residence due to the doors being locked.

The department responded to a report of shots heard on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 11:25 a.m. in the 82XX block of County Rd. 19. The reporting party stated there were some guys hunting on land that they rent and garden on. Officers arrived in the area and found two males hunting. The males were advised of the hunting regulations in the City of Corcoran.

The department responded to a report of litter on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 3:48 p.m. in the 66XX block of County Rd. 101. The reporting party advised unknown suspect(s) had dumped some litter on the side of the road. The items were a weight bench, TV and a table.

The department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:58 p.m. in the 68XX block of Willow Dr. The reporting party stated there was a vehicle parked near their driveway and they did not know who owned the vehicle. Officers determined the vehicle belonged to a neighboring farmer. They left their vehicle there while they were working in the fields.

The department responded to a report of a domestic on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1:02 p.m. in the 78XX block of Maple Hill Rd. The reporting party stated their boyfriend won’t let her leave; he is blocking the door. Officers arrived and the boyfriend was then willing to let the reporting party leave. The reporting party was transported to a safe place to wait for a cab. Officers advised the boyfriend to have no contact with the reporting party.

The department responded to a report of a grass fire on Friday, Oct. 12 at 10:36 p.m. in the 195XX block of Country Cir. E. The reporting party advised there is a grass fire in back, between the houses. The Officers found that a homeowner had been burning a brush pile when they got home that day and they thought it had gone out enough and was just smoldering. The homeowner decided to check on the pile before going to bed and that is when they noticed the fire had started in a wooded area behind the house. The homeowner stated they did not know the MN DNR has placed a burning ban on. The homeowner did not purchase a burning permit through the city. The Officer was called back to the residence at 12:05 a.m. due to the grass fire starting again. The wind keeps the fire growing.

The department responded to a report of a safety issue on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3:33 p.m. in the 78XX block of Maple Hill Rd. The reporting party advised that there was a refrigerator sitting outside and the door was still on it. The Officer attempted to locate the owner of the refrigerator. The Officer left a note explaining the door must be secured with a cable for safety reasons.
