Maple Grove wins the conference with an 8-1-1 record while Andover finishes 7-2-1. Ironically, the Crimson have to thank their archrival Osseo for winning the title because the Orioles upset Andover 2-1 Oct. 4. It was the Orioles’ lone win of a rebuilding season.

The Crimson did their part by beating Coon Rapids 1-0 Oct. 2, downing Elk River 4-1 Oct. 4 and blanking Osseo 2-0 Oct. 6. Haley Nelson had four goals in the games, including both goals in the win over Osseo.

Maple Grove played Osseo Tuesday, Oct. 9. The winner advances to the semifinal round Oct. 11 at the highest seed. The section final is Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the highest seed. The Crimson will be seeking their first state tournament berth. They were section runner-up in 2007 and 2008.
