North Shore gymnasts open season
Levels 4, 5 and 6 The North Shore Gymnastics Levels 4, 5 and 6 girls teams began their competition season Sept. 22 and 23 in the St. Paul Park Season Premier.
The Level 4 and 6 teams captured team titles, while Level 5 placed third.
In Level 6, in the 12 and up age group, Abigail Ylitalo (12) was the top scorer in the all-around, earning first in floor exercise and second on balance beam and uneven bars.
Nicole Albertson, 13, was a close second in the all-around. She was second on floor and first on beam and bars.
Other notable performances were turned in by Meagan Boecker (12 from Delano), third on bars and Taylor Burnham (12 from Delano), third on vault.
The Level 5 team was led by Makena Rasmussen (8 from Independence), taking second in all-around and bars and third on floor.
Teammate Hadley Juran (10) finished ninth in all-around. Olivia Jahnke’s (9) was third on beam.
North Shore’s Level 4 team was led by Peyton Dickhausen (9 of Delano), placing second in all-around and beam, plus third on bars.
Mei Vickery (9), Anna Murley (8) and Kennedy Schmidt (8) rounded out the top five all-around spots.
Murley placed first on bars with Vickery second. Schmidt’s vault was the best of the day at 9.475. Greta Ness (8 of Independence) was third on beam.
North Shore Levels 5 and 6 gymnasts will enter the USAG State Qualifier at Apollo High School in St. Cloud, Oct. 6-7.
