‘Diary of Anne Frank’
NOW TO OCT. 21 — This fall, Yellow Tree Theater, 320 Fifth Ave. S.E. in Osseo, opens their fifth season with “The Diary of Anne Frank” by the late playwright Wendy Kesselman. Performances are Sept. 21 through Oct. 21, with show times at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. SEPT. 28 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary and Legion Riders will be having a Steak Fry Friday, Sept. 28, at the Osseo-American Legion, 260 Fourth Ave. S.E. in Osseo. The usual ‘steak fry’ menu includes steak, walleye, and/or shrimp served with a baked potato and coleslaw or salad. The meals will be served between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, so bring the family, neighbors and friends.
Community Wellness Day
SEPT. 29 — There will be a Maple Grove Community Wellness Day Saturday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road. People will be able to meet local health, safety, financial and environmental professionals. The event will offer a variety of resources in which residents can help ensure overall wellness for themselves, their family and the community. There is no cost to attend.
‘Murder on Main Street’ series
SEPT. 29 — The Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street N., will host a mystery writer’s series. The next program is “Murder on Main Street Author Talk: Julie Kramer” Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. Join in for an afternoon with award-winning author and former WCCO-TV investigative journalist. Kramer will talk about her hot new mystery, “Shunning Sarah,” set in the Amish area of rural Minnesota. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Maple Grove Library. The program is free and open to adults.
Legion Auxiliary Fall Fashion Show
SEPT. 30 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a fall fashion show Sunday, Sept. 30. The social starts at 12:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the style show. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. Christopher & Banks will be providing our models with fall fashions. Tickets for the ‘Step into Fall Fashions’ show are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. OCT. 2 — The Osseo School Board will have a negotiation strategies meeting Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. in the conference room of the Education Service Center, 11200 93rd Ave. in Maple Grove. Kids Fire Safety Day
OCT. 6 — Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is Maple Grove Home Depot Kids Fire Safety Day. There will be a kids workshop from 9 a.m. to noon. The Maple Grove Police and Fire departments will bring a squad car and fire truck for kids to see up close. Maple Grove Hospital and North Ambulance will also be in attendance. OCT. 6 — The Third Annual Oktoberfest in Osseo will take place Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Games, activities, food and beverages will be available. There will also be a brat-eating contest. Local band Two Hicks and a Chick will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Elk River German Band will play from 2 to 6 p.m.

Block family benefit
OCT. 7 — A Block family benefit is Sunday, Oct. 7, with a best ball scramble shotgun start golf tournament and spaghetti dinner/silent auction and raffle. The golf event is 7:30 a.m. to noon at Daytona Golf Course in Dayton. Autumn Woods Classic
OCT. 13 — The Annual Autumn Wood Classic takes place Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove. The Classic features a 10K run, 5K run/walk and 1K kids’ run. Team 5K and 10K categories are also available. Family activities include musical entertainment, climbing wall, kids’ obstacle course, crafts and displays. Cost for the 10K and 5K races is $29 for day-of registration and just $23 for pre-registration. Cost for the 1K kids’ run is $9 day-of and just $5 for pre-registration.
