Rogers boys tip Grand Rapids 1-0 in soccer

Issac Aanerud scored the lone goal as the Rogers Royals defeated Grand Rapids 1-0 at home Friday evening.

Aanerud drilled a 25-yard shot from the middle of the field after a the ball came loose when Grand Rapids lost control of it.

The junior defender has scored four goals in the last three games. He also booted a 40-yard field goal for the football team later Friday evening in a 38-36 win at Buffalo.

With eight minutes left, Rogers goalie C.J. Rich made the stop on a penalty kick, to  preserve the lead.

Grand Rapids fell to 4-4-1.

The Rogers boys scored first but lost to the Monticello Magic 2-1 Thursday in Monticello.

Isaac Aanerud ripped a 20-yard shot into the upper corner of the net off a feed from Brady Johnson in the first half.

Monticello (1-2 conference, 3-4 overall) scored in the 47th and 81st minutes (names not available).
