Local nabs starring role in Bethany Lutheran’s ‘Peter Pan’

Ellen Tommerdahl, of Champlin, will appear in the lead role of Wendy in “Peter Pan” at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Tommerdahl, currently a senior majoring in sociology and psychology, has portrayed numerous roles during her college career.  As a freshman, she portrayed Eva Geiringer in “And They Came for Me,” an Anne Frank story; the first time in the Bethany’s history a freshmen performed a lead dramatic role.

“My academic and theater career at Bethany Lutheran College is a gift from God,” said Tommerdahl. “I am so blessed to be part of Bethany’s theater community.”

Benji Inniger directs the fall theater production of “Peter Pan,” an adaptation by Doug Rand based on the book by J. M. Barrie. When Peter Pan visits the nursery of the Darling home and tells Wendy of Neverland and his band of lost boys. Wendy decides to travel there with her younger brothers to mother the group. They are soon deeply involved in the ongoing feud between Peter and the ferocious Captain Hook and his band of pirates. Join them for an adventurous escape to Neverland.

Performances will take place in the Sigurd K. Lee Theater of the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 10, 16, and 17 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Nov. 11. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children, students, and senior citizens (55+). Advance reservations may be made beginning Monday, Oct. 29 through the Bethany box office.
