Hamel Lions Flea Market
THROUGH OCTOBER — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open every Sunday from 6 a.m. through noon in the parking lot at the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Highway 55, Medina. Visitors can shop for antiques, collectables, crafts, plants, produce and more. A farmer’s market will be offered in the fall. Space is available to vendors on a first come/first served basis. Medina Celebration Day
SEPT. 22 — Fireworks at about 8 p.m. will climax festivities at Medina Celebration Day Saturday, Sept. 22, at Hamel Legion Park, 3200 Mill Drive. Beginning at 4 p.m., visitors can wander through a business expo and farmers market, play bingo and stop at food vendors. Family activities will start at 4:30 p.m. and include a Civil War re-enactment, K-9 and police car demonstrations, rides on an antique fire truck, “Smokey” the bear, inflatable bounce toy, helicopter visit, city plow truck, pumpkin painting, games and more.
Fall Heritage Festival
SEPT. 22 — The Fall Heritage Festival is returning to downtown Delano from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. Visitors can stop at booths containing work of area artists, farmers’ produce, vendors’ wares and information from businesses and organizations. Food, a medallion hunt, chili cook-off, musical entertainment and more will round out offerings of the day. Event sponsors are the Delano Chamber of Commerce and the Delano Franklin Township Historical Society.
Girl Scout New Member Night
SEPT. 24 — Learn about Girl Scouting, from camp to cookies, events to awards and badges, there are many ways to get involved in Girl Scouts. Learn all about our fun, enriching activities at New Member Night on Monday, September 24, at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford. Plus discover the opportunities for troop leadership and other volunteer roles. A new member event is an informational session that helps you meet others and learn about becoming a Girl Scout, forming troops and registering for membership. Grief Support Group
SEPT. 24 — The Grief Support Group: Rebuilding Hope, sponsored by Ridgeview Medical Center will meet Monday, Sept 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center. This support group is for those experiencing grief or anticipating a loss of someone they care about. Farm Bureau meeting
SEPT. 24 — Hennepin County Farm Bureau President, Marvin Johnson, announces the Annual Meeting will be Monday, Sept. 24, at the Corcoran City Center, County Road 116 between County Roads 30 and 10. A buffet dinner will be served from 7:15 to 8 p.m. Each paid Farm Bureau membership will receive one free dinner. Non-members are welcome. Many door prizes will be given. Marriage amendment conversation
SEPT. 25 — The Delano Clergy Ministerium will host a “Respectful Conversation on the Marriage Amendment,” set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Delano City Hall, 234 Second St. N. The conversation will focus not on changing minds, but rather on softening hearts while discussing a divisive issue in Minnesota. A free meal will be provided. SEPT. 25 TO OCT. 30 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is offering a Fall Morning Stories series of preschool story times for children ages three to five. Fall Morning Stories will take place on Tuesday mornings, 10:30 to 11 a.m., through Oct. 30. Preschool story times encourage literacy and include stories, songs, rhymes and fun. Library Art Show Open House
OCT. 2 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will host an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 , to begin its 27th annual art show. Artists from the Delano Art Guild will demonstrate their styles and techniques from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jill Woodward will paint and assemble Native American style teepees and will assist community members wanting to participate. An art book will be given away in a drawing for all those present. The art show will be on display from Oct. 2 through Saturday, Oct. 27, throughout the library.
