‘Noises Off’

SEPT. 7-23 — Lyric Arts presents the first show of its 2012-2013 season, “Noises Off.” The farcical comedy features a play within a play storyline that is filled with comedic misunderstandings and mayhem. “Noises Off” opens Sept. 7 and runs through Sept. 23. CPHS boys hockey pancake breakfast

SEPT. 22 — Champlin Park High School boys hockey will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 22 from 7 to 10 a.m. at Broadway Pizza in Champlin. Includes 2 pancakes, 2 sausage links or bacon, juice or coffee. Donation: $6. Pre-sale tickets through team members as well as sold at the door.

Beltloop Bonanza

SEPT. 22 — Champlin Cub Scout Pack 420 will host a Beltloop Bonanza Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Jewell Park in Brooklyn Park. The day’s events include four stations and time for lunch. While attendance to the event is free, those who don’t bring their own lunch can purchase lunch (2 slices of pizza, chips and Kool-Aid) for $3.  A parent or adult partner must be in attendance with each scout for this event.  Pre-registration is required.  Speak to your unit leader for more info.

Legion fashion show

SEPT. 30 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary will host a fall fashion show Sunday, Sept. 30. The social starts at 12:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the style show. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. Christopher & Banks will be providing our models with fall fashions.

Steak fry

SEPT. 30 — The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary will be host a Steak Fry at the Osseo American Legion, 260 4th Ave. SE, Osseo on Friday, Sept. 30. The usual ‘steak fry’ menu includes steak, walleye, and/or shrimp served with a baked potato and coleslaw or salad. The meals will be served between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome, so bring your family, neighbors, and friends.

‘So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!”

OCT. 12 & 13 — Northern Intercultural Spiritual Experiences, of Champlin, along with a grant from  Metropolitan Regional Arts Council presents, “So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!” a new solo show by Minneapolis actor/writer Amy Salloway. The show is based loosely on her own adolescent experience of being forcibly shipped off by her parents to a very observant Jewish summer camp. Recommended for audiences ages 13 and older. OCT. 27 — The annual Osseo Kiddie Halloween Parade will be Saturday, Oct. 27, at noon. Kids in costumes can walk along Central Avenue and get treats.

Open Skating

ONGOING — Open skating is currently offered at the Champlin Ice Forum Wednesdays from 10 to 11:45 a.m.; Saturdays 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Sundays 1:30 to 3 pm. Student cost is 44. Adult cost is $5. Skate rental is $3. Open skating is provided for recreational skating only. It is important that participants observe the rules of open skating in order to make it an enjoyable experience for every skater. The program is not designed for hockey, figure skating practice or formal skating lessons by an instructor. Long blade skaters are welcome during weekday morning sessions. The Ice Forum is located at 12165 Ensign Ave. in Champlin.

Tribute Trees

ONGOING — The Friends of Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County work with the city of Champlin to offer Tribute Trees as living gifts that may be planted in city parks. The recipient receives a card at the time of the order, and a map of the tree location after its planting in spring. The cost is $75 per tree, or $200 for three. McGruff House

ONGOING — The Dayton Police Department works in cooperation with the McGruff House program, which was designed to assist children who are in danger or have a medical emergency while going to and from school.
