The League of Women Voters ABC (LWV ABC) and the Champlin Women of Today will co-sponsor a forum for candidates for Champlin City Council Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.. The forum will be held at Champlin City Hall and will be broadcast later on Quad Cities Community Television (QCTV).
In the interest of providing voters with information directly from the candidates in their own words, League of Women Voters ABC and Champlin Women of Today invited all candidates for mayor and candidates for Wards 3 and 4 City Council to appear at the forum. The three candidates for mayor, ArMand Nelson, Greg Payer, and Ryan Sabas have all confirmed their participation.
In Ward 4, the three candidates, Rick Klemesrud, Edward Schmitz, and Kara Terry also have confirmed that they will participate.
In the Ward 3 race, Nick Rice confirmed but Bruce Miller declined, therefore, in keeping with League’s policy, there will not be a forum for Ward 3. The League stated they regret that Ward 3 voters will not have an opportunity to compare candidates in a side-by-side forum where candidates respond to questions from voters.
“League of Women Voters ABC has been active in this area for over 70 years,” said Voter Service Co-Chair Geri Nelson. “This forum continues a strong tradition of helping voters obtain information about candidates’ stands on issues.”
