Wright County awards ditch cleanout bid

BY JACK RUSSEK

Wright County Commissioner, District 3

The Wright County Board Tuesday, Sept. 4, awarded the bid to Fyle Excavating and Honey Wagon for the cleanout of Joint Ditch 15 in Stockholm Township. The bid amount was $20,695.

We then passed several resolutions conveying tax forfeit parcels to the cities of Buffalo, Monticello and South Haven.

We also passed a resolution accepting the 2011 overlay contract and final payment of $204,285.65.

We scheduled a Transportation Committee of the Whole meeting, date to be announced.

Lt. Todd Hoffman from the Sheriff’s Office reported that there will be a prescription drug take back at Monticello City Hall on Sept. 29. He reminded us that any unused prescription drugs may be dropped at the Sheriff’s Office during open hours.

The previous week the County Board held a public hearing and adopted a social host ordinance. Tom Kelly, county attorney, proposed the ordinance. All law enforcement, Court Services and Human Services departments were in favor. Charles Borrell talked against it. In the end the board voted to adopt it.

We approved a request for a lake association to clean a portion of County Ditch 19.

We reviewed and approved the minutes of the Aug. 22 Personnel Committee meeting.
