The Osseo High volleyball team is a veteran group, as it return five of seven starters from the 2011 season. The Orioles are off to a 3-3 start.
The Orioles are led by captains Phillis Webb, Jackie Jones, and Megan Pekarek. Osseo has some early season health issues as Webb (stress fracture) and Clarke Sanders (mono) have just been cleared to start participating.
Osseo started their season off with a win over section rival Totino Grace on the road. Osseo got off to fast start and won game one 25-10. The Orioles held on in games two and three for slim victories (25-23, 26-24) to sweep the Eagles.
On the night Megan Pekarek spread off the offense to Megan Pekarek (11 kills), Jones (10 kills), and Sanders (10 kills). Libero Jazlynn Tanielu chipped in with 5 aces.

In game 3 the Crusaders held a lead through out and Osseo fought back to tie it at 22-22 on a Sanders kill, but Mayer held on to win 25-23 and force game 4.

In the most anticipated match of the early part of the schedule the defending NWSC and Section 5AAA champion Blaine Bengals came to town to battle the Orioles last Thursday.

Osseo fought off another game point and then took a 26-25 lead on a Hannah Pekarek ace. Blaine took a 28-27 lead on a Lydia Dimke kill but Osseo then ran off three straight points on a Jones kill, a Morton block, and a Sanders kill to win game two 30-28.
Game three was a mirror image of game two with neither team scoring more than three points in a row, but Blaine had a few more runs to pull out a 25-18 run.
