At the Sept. 10 meeting, Champlin City Council chose Ryan Karasek as their appointee to the vacant Ward 1 council seat. Retiring council member Julie Whalen resigned from the post Sept. 12 due to relocating to Dayton.
Karasek has currently been serving as the vice chair of the city’s planning commission. He has been on the commission since 2010. He is also a local realtor. He will be sworn in at the Sept. 24 council meeting and fulfill the remainder of the term which expires Dec. 31, 2014.
The council interviewed ten applicants for the position before making their selection.
