The Tigers placed four in the top 11 to earn second place as a team. Holdingford won the meet because the No. 5 finisher was in front of Delano’s. Both teams scored 52 points.

Sophomore Adam Armbruster finished close behind Thomas to earn the second place medal in his first varsity cross country meet. Sophomore Daniel Clark was eighth and eighth-grader Tucker Sjomeling placed 11th.

“We will be a whole different kind of team once everyone’s all put together and running at their peaks,” said coach Boak Wiesner. “I was hoping for third place at Maple Lake, so they exceeded my goal for them.”

Due to the rescheduling of the meet, only three Delano girls competed. The bright spot was the ninth place finish by Sarah Trocke.

In their first races, sophomore Kathryn Goldsmith was 41 and ninth-grader Madeline Sladek was 42.

Delano will enter the 25-team Rockford Invitational, 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 before hosting the Delano Invite, 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at Lake Rebecca Park.

Teams include Waconia, Rockford, Maple Lake, Southwest Christian, St. Croix Preparatory Academy and FAIR School.
