The Rockford –Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host a “meet the candidates” forum at its meeting Thursday, Sept. 13, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Wright Hennepin Electric Cooperative facility located at 6800 Electric Drive (on the north side of Highway 55, just west of the Rockford Mall).
The pubic is encouraged to attend this event, with lunch available at a nominal fee. Candidates for local offices for the cities of Rockford and Greenfield, along with those running for the Rockford Area School Board, District 883, have been extended an invitation to this event.
This chamber is relatively new, but has become increasingly active in promoting awareness of businesses and organizations in the area over the last few years.
It represents a broad base of businesses from corporate to home-based, and from industrial manufactures to the service and professional sectors. Its goal is to encourage and support the social welfare and economic development of the cities of Rockford, Greenfield and surrounding areas through initiatives for job creation and business development, including the expansion and retention of existing businesses, attraction of new businesses, community research, public information and education, facilitation of communication and development between government and area businesses and to assist local government leaders and community development programs to foster economic growth and provide leadership training. Membership is open to any person or organization from the area and surrounding communities.
The Sept. 13 meeting offers the perfect opportunity for community members to learn more about the chamber and the candidates running for local office.
