St. Michael-Albertville schools are all set for the new school year that opens Tuesday, Sept. 4, and are welcoming new staff members at each school.

 

HIGH SCHOOL

Principal Bob Driver and crew at the high school are welcoming several new teachers this year.

They include Jessica Miller in English, Erin Settergren in art, Josh Mann in social studies, Joe Osowski in choir, Joe Peatrowski in science, Kelly Negaard in Spanish, Mindi Sescher in math, Margaret Nigro in guidance (long-term sub), student resource officer Michael McGill and Amy Klug, long-term English sub.

Enrollment is at 1,560 students, up about 120 students from last year. Start and stop times remain the same as last year at 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL EAST

Principal Jennie Kelly and staff at Middle School East are welcoming a few new teachers this year.

They include Molly Hamann in fifth grade science, Danielle Kelm in seventh grade language arts, and Rachel Arro is speech.

Enrollment is anticipated at about 913 students, up about 25 from last year. Start and stop times remain the same as last year at 8:30 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL WEST

Middle School West and principal Andy Merfeld are welcoming many new staff members this year.

They include Marcie Harrison in fifth grade, Lindsey Hannon in eighth grade history, Erin Randall in speech pathology, reading specialist Alyssa Haugen, Bill Weiser in physical education, Jenna Paasch in seventh grade language arts, long-term sub for sixth grade language arts Kris Gapinski, and long-term sub for seventh grade history Katie Krueger-Raiche.

Enrollment is at about 820 students, up about 20 from last year. Start and stop times remain the same as last year at 8:30 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

 

ST. MICHAEL

ELEMENTARY

St. Michael Elementary School Principal Sheila Bichler is welcoming two new teachers this year.

They are Cyre Beaumont in grade two and Erin Randall in speech. Enrollment slightly declined from last year and is presently at 590 students.

Start and stop times remain the same at 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

 

FIELDSTONE ELEMENTARY

Fieldstone Elementary School and principal Jeanette Aanerud are welcoming four new teachers this year.

They are Karen Hinzman in first grade, reading specialist Laurie Meyer, Micki Riedel in grade three, and Katherine Evans in special education.

Enrollment is about the same as last year, at 649 students.

Start and stop times remain the same at 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

 

BIG WOODS ELEMENTARY

Big Woods Elementary School and principal Lee Brown are welcoming many new teachers this year.

They include Bill DeWitt in fourth grade, Sarah Miller in special education, Margaret Guo in Chinese, Kris Schoen in first grade, Amy Cornelius in response/reading, special education para Emily Geray, Summer Hertwig in third grade, and Margie Noel in Minnesota Reading Corps.

About 625 students are enrolled, which is the same as last year.

Start and stop times remain the same at 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

 

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Albertville Primary School Principal Ann-Marie Foucault and crew are welcoming several new teachers this year.

They include Amy Poitra in Kindergarten Climbers, Kristen Basten in Kindergarten Climbers, Kaye Johnson in reading, Lauren Kessler in reading corps, Jennifer Thompson in kindergarten, Elizabeth Pearson in kindergarten, and LeAnna Siebenaler in kindergarten.

Enrollment is about the same as last year at 450 kindergarteners.

AM Kindergarten hours are from 7:45 to 10:15 a.m. PM Kindergarten hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
