Royal volleyball shows promise

Coming off their best-ever season, with a 19-9 record, Rogers volleyball has to fill a few spots but is showing promise for another good campaign.

“Our basic skill level is good. We have solid passing,” said coach Joyelle Knoblach. “We are going to be able to focus more on our offense this year than we have in the past.”

Team leader is senior libero Abby Folk, who’s been team MVP and all-conference the last two years. She led the 2011 squad with 961 digs, 98.9 percent serving and 1,092 serve receives. Two other returning starters are hitters Lizzy Meyer (150 kills, 47 blocks) and Claire Martinez.

With new starters and top sub moving up, Knoblach said the main concurn at the outset is  lack of playing time together/

“They all have the skills they just need to be confident with themselves.”
