Richard Wooton


Services for Richard “Dick” Guy Wooton, 70, of St. Michael were Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.

Interment with military rites is Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ronald Taylor, Todd Taylor, Scott Wallace, Steve Wallace, Mark Wallace, Tim Hoeft and Carl Bursch.

Mr. Wooton died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

He was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Guy and Arline Beemer Wooton.

He was raised and grew up in Batavia , Ill.

He honorably served his Country in The United States Army in Viet Nam from 1964 until 1966 and continued to faithfully support many veteran’s organizations.

Mr. Wooton began delivering papers at the age of 11 and continued to work hard all of his life. He took pride in a job well done. He was employed for almost 30 years at Satellite Industries/Shelters and was still an employee at the time of his death. He enjoyed his job and found many friends in his coworkers.

At age 31, Mr. Wooton found himself widowed with three very young children. Without hesitation he put everything he had into being an amazing single father! Family was very important to him and he proved that yet again a few years later by taking a 5-year-old little boy into his heart and raising him as his own.

Mr. Wooton enjoyed reading and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, which he made sure to share with everyone. He had a love of classic cars, spending time outdoors and animals.

Survived by his loving companion, Barbara Blosberg of Champlin; children, Michael Wooton of Hastings, Richard Wooton, Tammy (Brian) Cornell of St. Cloud and Jason (Angie) Olson of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Blake, Tyler, Mason, Briana, Joshua, Madison, Natalie, Maddie and Mikey; a sister, Pegi Wallace of Oregon ; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; a grandson, Nicholas Wooton and by his parents.
