The city of Hanover has hired recently retired former St. Michael City Administrator Bob Derus as an interim administrator.
He had a similar role with the city of Annandale that ended just prior to his retirement from St. Michael.
Current Hanover Administrator Dan Buchholtz has accepted an administration position in Spring Lake Park that would eventually lead to his becoming the city administrator in Spring Lake Park.
Buchholtz’s last day with Hanover is next week.
“My job will be to hold down the fort while we hire a new administrator,” Derus said. “I’m very excited about that. I know a lot of the people in Hanover from working with them. I know some business people in Hanover and the council and staff.”
Derus said he would likely remain on the job for at least six months. One of his first tasks is to hire a new deputy clerk accountant, noting that the city has several candidates and is close to a job offer.
“It took about seven months in Annandale,” he said. “I’d say it would come close to that. We have to bring the accountant on at first. There are a few things to take care of before we hire a new administrator.”
