Filings close for Champlin Council, Mayoral seats

New makeup for Champlin Council inevitable

Filing for the two open Champlin City Council seats and Champlin Mayoral seat closed Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Bruce Miller and Nick Rice have filed for Champlin Council Ward 3.

Three candidates will square off for the Champlin Council Ward 4 seat. They include Rick Klemesrud, Edward Schmitz and Kara Terry.

These seats are currently held by Councilors Greg Payer and ArMand Nelson, who are both vying for the mayoral seat along with Ryan Sabas.

Current Mayor Mark Uglem is not seeking re-election as he is running for the State House District 36A seat, currently held by retiring Rep. Denise Dittrich.

Voters will select their choice for the Champlin Council and Mayoral seats at the Nov. 8 General Election.
