AUG. 15 — The Kaleidoscope Charter School of Otsego is hosting a community electronics recycling and document shredding event Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Recycling CPUs, laptops and batteries are free. Recycling TVs are $1 per square inch, monitors $10, small electronics $5 to $15; commercial size will be priced on site. Document shredding is free. The school is located at 7525 Kalland Ave., Otsego.

Library to host

‘tape’ creativity

AUG. 16 — The St. Michael Public Library invites teens and children 8 and older to Get Creative With Duct Tape Thursday, Aug. 16, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fun craft options include a keyring fob, a flower pen and a dual color wallet. Truck & tractor pull

AUG. 25 — The Corcoran Lions National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) Truck and Tractor pull is Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at Corcoran Lions Park. Featuring two-wheel drive trucks, four-wheel drive trucks, super stock tractors, super farm tractors, pro stock semis and pro farm tractors. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children. Tickets are available at the gate.

Movie in the Park

AUG. 25 — Hanover Parks and Recreation is hosting a Movie in the Park Saturday, Aug. 25, at 8:30 p.m. Admission to “Zookeeper” is free. The movie will be showing at Settlers Park by city hall. Concessions are available.

Family dog/pet show

AUG. 25 — The third annual Family Dog Show and Pet Expo is Saturday, Aug. 25, at the St. Michael Rec Center. Registration is at 9 a.m., showing starts at 10 a.m., awards ceremony is at 2 p.m. All dog owners must bring their dogs, current vaccination/license information. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All male dogs must be neutered. Cost is $5 per category for biggest dog, smallest dog, best trick, best handler, best behaved, best kisser, best costume, best groomed and game class.

Charity golf event

AUG. 27 — Westbridge Community Church of St. Michael is hosting a “charity: water” golf event Monday, Aug. 27, at Fox Hollow Golf Course in St. Michael. Featuring a 1 p.m. four-person scramble shotgun start, cost is $100 per player. This is a golf fundraising event for the “charity: water” organization. “charity: water” works around the world helping villages drill wells so they can have fresh water. “charity: water” started in 2006 with a simple idea: everyone on the planet should have clean water to drink.  “charity: water” focuses on life’s most basic need – water. One billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s 1 in 8 people. All proceeds raised fund water project costs in developing countries. RHS cheerleading clinic

AUG. 28 & 29 — The Rogers High School Cheer Team will be hosting a youth cheerleading clinic Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 28 and 29, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for students entering k-5th grade.  Students will then perform at halftime at the Royals football game Aug. 30. Demolition derby

SEPT. 8 — The Corcoran Lions Demolition Derby is Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at Corcoran Lions Park. Featuring cars, trucks, compact cars and compact trucks. Beer and food on grounds, no coolers allowed. Free parking. Admission is $10 for ages 12 and older, $5 for ages 4 to 11, and 3 and under free. Town hall meeting

SEPT. 17 — A town hall meeting is Monday, Sept. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rogers Community Room. Come meet the candidates for Mayor and the two City Council positions to be filled at the General Election on November 6, 2012. Find out who they are and what they plan on doing for the city of Rogers. There will be a question and answer period after the main forum.
