The St. Michael City Council discussed ordinance-violating properties at the Town Center West area.
Community development director Marc Weigle showed pictures of houses under construction in Town Center West and said staff has been working with the developer to clean up the properties.
He said there are numerous ordinance violations and that staff has written a notice, giving the developer three days to take care of the violations before the city will complete the work and assess the costs to the properties.
The council discussed Town Center West and what next steps should be taken. The council agreed that no new building permits would be issued until the lots are cleaned up.
In other news, community development director Weigle said the Economic Development Authority approved moving ahead with the community survey a few months ago.
He said staff decreased the number of questions on the survey, and is proposing to reduce the sample size down to 300 surveys, which will save money.
The council requested this item be added to a budget work session for further discussion.
