Champlin neighborhoods are invited to join thousands of other communities across the nation to celebrate Night to Unite this summer. The event is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 7. Starting at 6 p.m., residents in neighborhoods across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors.
Night to Unite is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Residents interested in hosting a block party are asked to contact the Champlin Police Department at 763-421-2971 to obtain a registration form. Block parties registered with the police department will be put on a list to receive a visit from the Champlin Police and Fire Departments during Night to Unite. Depending on the number of parties registered, visits are not guaranteed.
