On Tuesday, Aug. 7, several neighborhoods and communities will host events intended to pull residents together in a fun and relaxed atmosphere to promote community and public service awareness.
In Rockford, National Night Out will begin at 6 p.m. in Riverside Park in the downtown area of the city. There will be food, games, stations, prizes and a whole lot of fun. Representatives of local public safety organizations will also be on hand to interact with the public.
Across the River in Greenfield, they are celebrating Night to Unite and will kick things off a little earlier. Beginning at 3 p.m. in the city park located at Town Hall Dr. and County Rd. 50, a market with vendors and representatives from some area organizations will be open to the public. Additional features of this event include games, food, a moonwalk and a visit by members of the Rockford, Loretto and Hanover Fire Departments. Events conclude at 8.
In both cases, be sure dress for the weather and bring a chair or blanket and bug spray. This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, city officials and staff, and local public safety providers.
