Maple Grove Chiropractor Jerod Ochsendorf will be participating in the 2012 Olympics in London, helping USA wrestling and judo athletes with chiropractic care and mental aspects.

A Maple Grove chiropractor has been selected by the Wellness Advisory Council with the Maximize Living Group to support members of USA Judo, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Sitting Volleyball teams go for gold in London during the Olympics. That doctor is Jerod Ochsendorf, who works at Trillium Chiropractic in Maple Grove.

Ochsendorf said, “I will focusing my work over there on the wrestling and judo teams. This is a very exciting time for us doctors and our families. I feel really blessed.”

Maximized Living is sending the largest contingent of chiropractors to London to support and care for USA’s elite athletes. Since 2009, Maximized Living Sports Council doctors such as Dr. Ochsendorf have worked to deliver a holistic, whole-athlete approach to wellness that incorporates chiropractic principles, balanced nutrition, mental preparedness and fitness programs designed to building strength, endurance and enhanced performance.

Ochsendorf will be assisting athletes with chiropractic care in the locker room, helping them with nutrition and mental aspects of the games as well as preparing the athletes. He said he would be working mostly behind the scenes of Olympics.

“I’m not sure of schedule yet,” he said. “We will have different roles on different days.”

He added, “I will be helping support the athletes with their overall wellness lifestyle while they are away from home.”

There will be two weeks of chiropractors going to the Olympic games in London, according to Ochsendorf. There will be around 120 doctors going, half during each week.

“These athletes have a huge team around them,” he said. “That’s a key to success, building a team around the athletes.”

He added, “I’m really excited to be a part of this. My patients as also excited and my office has been decorated with Olympic rings and other decorations.”

Ochsendorf leaves for London and the Olympic games July 27. He will be working with athletes until Aug. 5 or 6, then will spend some personal time with family in London.

He also is on contract with the men’s and women’s hockey teams at the University of Minnesota. “I work with the athletes once a week at Mariucci Arena,” Ochsendorf added. “I also take care of NHL players that are home for the summer.”
