Eastman Nature Center a little behind schedule

Doors expected to open on Labor Day

Construction at Eastman Nature Center hit a snag this winter with steel beam fabrication delays. It continues to remain a few weeks behind schedule but progress is being made.

The roof is finished and the hot water solar panels are up. The electrical conduit, air exchange ductwork, and fire sprinkler system are installed. The geothermal wells were laid last summer, the in-floor radiant heat tubing is buried in the poured cement floor, and the heat exchanger and other mechanicals are installed in the basement. Window frames installed, most window glass is in, drywall is up and being painted. The basement concrete steps are poured. Bathroom tile is installed. Siding will start soon.

Completion and move-in is expected to occur mid-August, with doors opening Labor Day, if there are no further complications.
