The period of time in which interested residents may file for positions on the Maple Grove and Osseo City Councils begins Tuesday, July 31. Filings of Affidavits of Candidacy for each city are listed below.
In the city of Maple Grove, there are two open seats on the City Council, currently held by Erik Johnson and Leann Sargent.
Filings begin for the two seats July 31. They close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, the day of the State Primary Election. Candidates must fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy, pay a $5 filing fee and provide a statement of economic interest. This statement is use within 14 days of signing the affidavit.
The withdrawal deadline is Thursday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m.
To be eligible for office, a candidate must be an eligible voter, will be 21 years of age upon assuming office and have maintained a residence in the district where he resides for 30 days prior the election.

Interested Osseo candidates can file for positions on the city council between July and Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m.
The following offices on the council will be voted on: Mayor (two-year term) seat and two City Council seats (each are four-year terms). These positions are currently held by Mayor Al Lindquist and Councilors Duane Poppe and Mark Schulz.
Affidavits of Candidacy for these offices are available at Osseo City Hall, 415 Central Avenue in Osseo, during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays). The filing fee is $2.
A candidate for office must be a qualified voter in Osseo, 21 years of age or more on assuming office, and have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same municipal election.

The General Election will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6. Polls in Maple Grove and Osseo are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Absentee voting for the General Election begins Sept. 21, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Absentee voting will be Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Maple Grove.
