Bruce Miller announces decision to run for Champlin City Council

On June 30, 2012, Bruce Miller, of 1523 Quebec Av. N., Champlin, publicly announced his candidacy to run for Champlin City Council Ward 3 seat.

The seat, currently occupied by Greg Payer, will be vacated due to Payer running for Champlin Mayor. Miller announced his candidacy early to give voters more time to learn about him and give him more time to meet his neighbors as he walks the Ward door to door.

“I am anxious to get out and hear what city issues are on people’s minds,” said Miller. Miller has established an email account ([email protected]) and started a Facebook page (Bruce 4 Champlin). He is hoping to have a web page up shortly.

Miller is a small business owner and also works for the City of Brooklyn Center. He has been an election judge and former a vice-chair with the Champlin Planning Commission.

“I’ve been focused on helping candidates get elected for years at the county level and up, such as Hennepin County Sheriff Stanek, Hennepin County Commissioner Johnson and Congressman Paulsen,” said Miller. “Now it’s time to put my money where my mouth is.”

He is currently involved in assisting Champlin Mayor, Mark Uglem in his bid for state representative.

“I believe that Mark brought a good common sense voice to city government. I hope to be able to continue in the manner which he established, with his fair and reasonable style. Three core values for government that I will bring to the council are: fiscal responsibility, constitutional limited government and individual liberty,” said Miller.
