An 11-year-old boy from St. Paul drowned Wednesday afternoon, July 25, in a pond while visiting a farm in Corcoran.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a near-drowning in the 23000 block of County Road 10 in Corcoran.
Two young brothers from St. Paul were visiting a farm in Corcoran with their family. One brother alerted an adult that his brother was in the pond and needed help. A man pulled an 11-year-old boy from the pond. The child had been underwater and he was unconscious. Corcoran Police, Corcoran Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, Air Care air ambulance, and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office responded.
First responders provided CPR, and the child was transported to North Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The boy was later identified as Chuefu Yang, 11, of St. Paul by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
