Motorists will experience delays in Maple Plain on both directions of Highway 12 between Boundary Avenue and just west of County Road 83/Halgren Road as roadwork begins Monday, July 9.
The project, under the aegis of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), will involve resurfacing the roadway and making additional improvements.
Temporary, non-rush hour lane closures and traffic shifts will occur during approximately the first month of the project. During this time, crews will work on minor resurfacing and curb and gutter replacement at the west end of the project, and reconstruct the intersection of Highway 12 and Oak Street at the east end of the project. Flaggers also might stop traffic for brief periods during this work.
Both directions of Highway 12 will be resurfaced from approximately mid-August through mid-September. Resurfacing work will occur at night between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. A few overnight closures of Highway 12 will occur during the resurfacing. Area residents also should be aware in advance of additional overnight noise in the area during this work. Updates will be made in advance of the overnight full closures.
The Highway 12 project includes resurfacing to preserve the lifespan of the roadway and create a smoother ride for motorists, adding left turn lanes west of County Road 83/Halgren Road to enhance safety, and reconstructing the intersection of Highway 12/Oak Street to enhance motorist safety and upgrade accessibility for pedestrians. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by mid-September.
