Community pitches in at Helping Hands

People from the Delano area are helping out Delano Helping Hands Food shelf by volunteering there and by contributing food and money.

On average Helping Hands serves 65 different families on a monthly basis. All food given by the food shelf is donated by individuals or purchased with donated money. Cash donations allow Helping Hands to purchase food from Second Harvest Food Bank at a much lower cost per pound than the average consumer can.

Delano Helping Hands is open every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and also the third Thursday of the month from 5to 7 p.m. The food shelf is located in the lower level of the Delano Schools Community Education building on Elm Avenue at Second Street. Send all mail to Delano Helping Hands, P.O. Box 122, Delano, MN. 55328. Contacts are Sandy Pikus, director, 763-972-3723 and Jeanie Pilarski, volunteer coordinator, 763-972-3360.
