Rogers goes low in girls’ golf

(May 22) The Royals carded their best score in three seasons, shooting a team score of 378 in a Mississippi 8 meet played at Fox Hollow Golf Club.

To truly celebrate senior night, senior captain Haley Jung fired a career-best 88 to lead Rogers.

She was followed by a season-best 88 from sophomore Maddie Hol, who finished sixth overall with a scoring average of 47 to earn all-conference honors.

Also, sophomore Rachel Dodd shot 100 and seventh-grader Megan Secrist shot 102 for the Royals.

"We had our best team score in three years today," said Rogers coach Durand Onell. "This is a great confidence boost for the girls heading into sections next week."

Buffalo won the event with its score of 334, led by a 5-under-par 67 from medalist sophomore Lexi Bollant. She and senior Kourtney Williams of Becker earned 2012 season co-conference medalist honors, as each held scoring averages of 37.

With the victory for the Bison, it claimed its seventh consecutive conference Championship. Rogers placed sixth.

Here are the final Mississippi 8 standings: 1) Buffalo, 2) Becker, 3) Monticello, 4) STMA, 5) Cambridge-Isanti, 6) Rogers and 7) Big Lake.
