Osseo baseball team enjoys strong late-season run

Osseo edged Park Center 3-2 in a Section 5 baseball opener May 25. The Orioles played second-seeded Coon Rapids in the next round May 28. The winner advanced to the section double-elimination semifinal round Wednesday, May 30. The section tournament continues June 1 and June 4 with the final set for Wednesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at Midway Stadium.

The Orioles, seeded seventh, have had a strong late season run as they won five of their final eight games. Here are highlights from Osseo’s most recent games.

MAY 9, 11

Osseo 6, Coon Rapids 5, 19 innings

Bret Moody and Sam Christofferson each had four hits and Moody delivered the winning hit to score Grant Sealock in the 19th inning. Christofferson hit a two-run homer in the first inning, AJ Lyons had two hits and drove in two runs and Sealock had two hits, including a double in the top of 19th, which ended up being the winning run.

Nick Wagner pitched 8 1/3 scoreless innings with 7 K’s and no walks. Andrew Cornin made his first pitching appearance of the year and pitch three scoreless innings to get the win.

MAY 14

Osseo 12, Anoka 7

Bryce Sealock and Tony Stein each had three hits in the game and Moody and Alex Eernisse hit home runs. Moody ended the game with three RBIs and Eernisse had two. Wagner pitched three scoreless innings to record the save. He had four K’s and no walks.

May 17

Osseo 2, Centennial 1

Freshman Charlie Hohenstein pitched a complete game one-hitter to get his second win on the year. Tony Stein recorded a two-out, two-run hit in the first inning to provide the scoring for Osseo.

MAY 18

Osseo 5, Champlin Park 1

Lyons, Moody, and Christofferson each had two hits and Kyndall Pringles and Bryce Sealock had big two-out hits to break the game open. Ben Johnson pitched a complete game with two K’s and one walk.
