CROSS collecting school supplies for annual drive

The annual CROSS drive to collect school supplies is underway. In 2011, CROSS provided school supplies to more than 700 children who otherwise might not have had any.

CROSS (Christians Reaching Out in Social Service) serves persons living in Maple Grove, Osseo, west Champlin, Corcoran, Rogers and Dayton.

CROSS is located at 12915 Weinand Circle in Rogers. For directions and more information call CROSS at 763-425-1050 or check its website at crossfoodshelf.org.

All types of school supplies are needed, but most in demand are backpacks, combination locks, flash drives, highlighters, ear buds, black felt pens and calculators.

"Volunteers will prepare packets of supplies, organized by grade levels, for distribution on Aug. 14 and 16 at our facility," said Char Lake, CROSS coordinator. "If possible, individuals needing school supplies should call CROSS so that we have enough for distribution. Those who are not registered at CROSS and reside in communities we serve should call us as soon as possible."

Persons donating school supplies and cash can bring them to Christ Community Moravian in Maple Grove, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Osseo or to the CROSS facility. People can also check with their local church as a possible location to bring them into.

CROSS serves Maple Grove, Osseo, west Champlin, Rogers, Corcoran and Dayton.
