Rockford residents Charles Bentley, 21, and Steven Keelsing, 18, were arrested and charged June 20 for conducting a robbery at the Casey’s gas station and store located on the south side of Highway 55 in Rockford.

The robbery, which occurred late on the evening of June 17, was reported by a Casey’s employee who was able to give members of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office a brief description of two men. The employee described them as tall, slim built Caucasian males, possibly in their 20s. The males were wearing black "hoody" sweatshirts and bandanas over their faces. One, it was reported, carried a black gun, the other a short barrel shotgun. It was believed the males traveled to and from the crime by foot.

Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty thanked the community for coming forward with information that helped lead to the arrests.

"We need the community’s help in our public safety efforts and in this case, the community certainly rose to the occasion and provided information enabling our office to be successful in solving this serious crime," Hagerty said.

Bentley and Keesling were arrested and charged with robbery. They remain in Wright County custody on $40,000 and $20,000 bail respectively. In addition to the robbery charge, Bentley has a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Wisconsin.
