"Bookawocky," Hennepin County Library’s summer program series for kids and teens, is in full swing at local libraries. Storytimes, book clubs, art programs, music, movies, online activities, and other free activities are scheduled. Author, small business, career, and other free programs for adults are offered this summer, too.

STEAMPUNK MYSTERY MAYHEM: CREATED BY THE RED RIBBON SOCIETY

Monday, July 16, 2-4 p.m. at Champlin Library

Registration required; begins June 18; limit 20. Entering grades 6-12. A meeting at the library to prepare for the upcoming World’s Fair turns dangerous when the Tesla Hydroelectric Generator meant to showcase the town is sabotaged! Who’s behind this dastardly deed? Try to repair the generator before it blows and solve this whodunit.

ACT OUT FOR KIDS: PLAYMAKING

Thursday, July 26, 2-3:30 p.m. at Champlin Library

Registration required; begins June 28; limit 20. Entering grades 3-5. Let your imagination run wild! Using themes from children’s literature, myths and legends, children will be led by an experienced Guthrie teaching artist to get a basic understanding of acting by creating their own bare-bones theater from scratch.
