Dayton to hold primary for 2 open council seats
The City of Dayton will hold a primary election for city council and will have a new mayor come 2013.
Signature filing for candidates wishing to run for the mayoral position and the two open council positions ran from May 22 through June 5. The city holds a primary for any position that has two or more candidates running for the seat. There are seven candidates running for 2 open seats on the council and two candidates running for mayor. The primary election day will be Aug. 14. The four candidates for council who receive the most votes will go on to run in the general election. All open seats will be on the General Election ballot Tuesday, Nov. 6.
