STMA 9 loses, wins

With a loss and a victory, the Knights improved 13-7 overall and 10-2 in Mississippi 8 play.

ST. CLOUD TECH 6,

STMA 5

(May 21) A tight game was decided in the sixth inning, as the host Knights fell in seven innings at MSW Field on Monday.

Freshman outfielder Tyler Berg had a good day at the plate for STMA, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh.

Tech took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

To answer, STMA scored one run of its own in the bottom of the second, scoring on an error.

Tech then went up for good in the sixth, scoring three runs on an RBI double, an RBI triple, and a wild pitch.

Three runs in the bottom of the seventh helped STMA shrink its deficit to 6-5. An error, an RBI double by Berg, and an RBI single by senior outfielder Jared Kasper, triggered STMA’s rally. But it wasn’t enough, as a groundout by senior second baseman Shawn Morris ended the game.

STMA 2,

ROCORI 1

(May 23) An outstanding effort by junior pitcher Jacob Dzubay lifted the Knights to victory in eight innings over host Rocori on Wednesday.

Dzubay worked out of 10 tricky spots for STMA. He pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run on four hits, facing his toughest situation in the eighth inning.

Senior third baseman Andrew McCarthy pushed STMA ahead in the final inning. His RBI single scored senior shortstop Garrett Watters, who had singled to start the eighth, and then went from second to third on a groundout by junior Bailey Solberg.

Earlier, STMA broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Berg.
